Benefits Of A Good Education

You’ve likely heard the claim that knowledge is power, and it is quite true.  A good education can bring you far in life. It may be difficult to truly see how powerful knowledge can be, but there’s a simpler way to quantify the excellence of education.

If you’d like to convince yourself that college is a good choice, then take a second to read through a few of the benefits you’ll reap from gaining a good education.

Knowledge reduces the likelihood of crime

Going to college reduces the likelihood of being charged with a serious crime.  That’s not to say that there aren’t plenty of white-collar criminals around, but college typically places you in an environment that doesn’t promote such actions.  When you surround yourself with upstanding individuals, you tend to follow the trends of your friends.

You’ll make more money

It’s a proven fact that people who have a higher education make more money throughout their lifetime, and the gap is quite large.  It used to be sufficient to have a high school diploma, but today’s workforce requires more than that.

You’ll need at least a two-year degree to get your foot in the door in your chosen line of work.  There are many careers that require a four-year degree, and more that require an even higher achievement.

You won’t be as easily fooled

Ignorance may, in fact, be bliss.  However, it does make you a bit more susceptible to those who would take advantage.  The more you know, the less likely you are to get wrapped up in a bad situation.

It’s not that an education will keep you from ever getting duped, but it will help you make wiser decisions along your path in life.  Ignorance is a thief’s most powerful tool, so don’t place yourself at risk for being taken advantage of by someone else.

Education gives you a path to follow

Having goals in life helps make you a more functional human being.  Some people need order and structure more than others, but it’s always good to know where you’re headed.

When you choose to follow the path of higher education, you grant yourself the gift of guidance.  As long as you do what you’re told, your professors will help you grow into a well-polished individual.

Education equals quality healthcare

If you live in the United States, then you’ll need a good education to stay healthy.  Faring well in the health insurance department is quite difficult without a quality job.

Until the U.S. gets on board with the rest of the world, you’ll need a higher education to have quality healthcare.  Getting a college degree statistically extends your life expectancy.
